SPEECH CONSOLE

FLUENTPLAY

Configure how FluentPlay measures speech fluency

SLP Trial — speech recognition included

The Speech Console is FluentPlay's core scoring engine. It uses the PAD framework to measure what's happening beneath the surface of your speech — not just what you said, but how much it cost you.

P
Safety
How secure was your start?
A
Pressure
How much urgency to get through?
D
Difficulty
How hard was the sound itself?
G
Ground
Your rolling stability over time

How to use: Pick a preset below (Balanced is a great start), scroll down to enter a phrase, then tap Begin and speak naturally. The console scores each syllable and shows your PAD breakdown in real time.

You can expand each PAD category below to fine-tune the sensitivity if you want — but the presets work well out of the box.

D = P × A  •  Ground (G) = rolling stability
Safety (P)
initiation security
Vocal intensity consistency
Stable volume = confident initiation
5
Phonation duration
Sustained voicing = stable motor output
6
Pre-voice latency
Delay before voicing may signal anticipatory tension
7
Sound prolongation
Stretched sounds = holding rather than releasing
8
Utterance position
First syllable = highest anticipatory load
4
Known difficult sound
Challenge sounds the speaker identified as threatening
7
Prior syllable outcome
Difficult previous syllable erodes confidence
5
Session trend
Cumulative performance erodes or builds safety
4
Pressure (A)
force and urgency
Vocal force
Higher volume = more effortful production
7
Utterance position
Pressure builds through the word
4
Prior syllable outcome
Poor result increases urgency on next attempt
5
Pace demand
Faster speed = more temporal pressure
6
Difficulty (D = P × A)
observable disruption
Voice onset attempts
Multiple initiations = false starts, restarts
8
Phonation duration
Too short = can't sustain. Too long = can't release
5
Pre-voice latency
Long delay = motor plan stalling
6
Articulatory block
Effortful silence — airflow but no voicing
9
Sound repetition
Repeated onsets in short window = syllable cycling
8
Phoneme accuracy
Sound distortion under motor stress
4
Sound substitution
Different phonemes than intended
5
Sound omission
Expected phonemes missing
6
Sound insertion
Extra phonemes detected
4
Known difficult sound
Challenge phonemes carry motor planning complexity
6
Pace demand
Faster pace narrows execution window
4
Ground (G)
computed from P, A, D outcomes
Ground sensitivity
How fast Ground drops after struggle vs how slowly it rebuilds. Higher = more reactive.
